Partnership Testimonials
Aloha All,

It has been 2 weeks since the conference and I have been so busy following up on the great leads we got that day that I have not taken the time to stop and thank you for all your efforts in putting together an event of such importance to our community!!

I know it was a huge amount of work to pull that all together and everyone that went is still on a high cloud of joy for all that happened that day.
I have talked with so many that were there and they all say how blessed they were to have been a art of it.

For my company alone we have benefited by starting a partnership with another agency to better serve the Waimanalo community.  We will both be better able to service our clients by working together.

We also got a call from a couple that has property in the Waianae are and wants to work with us in some capacity to have the two houses on the land benefit ex-offenders. We are still in the talking stages with them but things look promising.  They are also helping run Thanksgiving dinner in Wahiawa and we are going to have our seniors class in that area make decorations for the event.

Again, mahalo for all your time and talent and we look for ward to working with you again.

Social Services Get Lift From Community-Based Groups

filed under:

Lt. Governor Aiona recently discussed with non-profit organizations in Hawai`i how to better work with faith-based groups to help solve social problems across the state.

Social Services Get Lift From Community-Based Groups

Lt. Governor Aiona addresses a conference organized by faith-based leaders.

He credited such partnerships for already providing social services such as job training and drug treatment in Hawai‘i, where faith-based and community organizations are benefiting from an $8.2 million federal grant administered by the Lingle-Aiona Administration.

The money is used to support programs ranging from job training for former prisoners and recovering addicts to rehabilitation for the poor and homeless. “And it is healing and strengthening families,” Lt. Governor Aiona told an estimated 200 leaders and volunteers of faith-based and other social service groups during a conference at Hope Chapel in Kaneohe Bay organized by Together-Strengthening Our Community Services.

“We live in a fast-paced world, and it is difficult to find the time to give back to the community,” Lt. Governor Aiona told the gathering. “That is why we are so thankful for your commitment to volunteer your time and talent to serve the people of Hawai‘i through your faith-based and community organizations.”

Lt. Governor Aiona also recognized faith-based organizations for their help in feeding the homeless, establishing transitional shelters and finding permanent, loving homes for c hildren in the foster care system.

Your conference on Partnership of Compassion for the Community was awesome. However, I was more interested in the Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response and didn't have a chance to go to the other workshops.

Can you please email a list of the presenters and contact numbers when it becomes available.  I am going to promote this conference to my other
friends in their churches and groups?  We are about due for a major disaster one of these days.

The churches and other organizations are not preparing their congregation at this time.
The prophets have warned us to be prepared with food and water.  No one is taking heed. The Civil Defense are warning us but very few are preparing.
Mahalo for your vision,

Rhoda Kaluai

Thank you for organizing such a great event. I was able to network with so many people/organizations from so many areas. I look forward to future events where we can talk in-depth about these areas of interest.
